Case Study: Little Bird Kitchen

New brand and package helps a local brand go national

BrandFire helped deliver a 500% increase in sales for artisan confection company Little Bird Kitchen. The new logo, positioning, packaging and website helped the company increase their retail distribution and become a national brand with several #hotandsweet product verticals.

The challenge

Little Bird came to us with a high-quality product in a plain plastic bag and a scattered product offering. They required a full brand platform – from strategy to packaging and even a product and merchandising strategy.

Our approach

We began with a deep dive into the product that Little Bird was offering. What was the DNA of their offering? We learned that 80% of their sales were derived from their candied jalapeño product. This product offering was at the core of the brand strategy and platform we created for Little Bird. It would help the brand stand apart from the competition and give consumers a real reason to connect with them.

We developed the platform “Curious Confections” — and that idea would communicate to the world what the brand was promising. It would also powerfully direct the company itself and create a standard for what they would need to be concocting, from a future product development standpoint. The platform was carried out in packaging and the creation of brand extensions — Fire Bites and Fire Bark.

Since implementing the new brand and packaging, Little Bird has seen a 500% increase in sales and an equal boost in retail partnerships. Increased demand required the company to expand its manufacturing capabilities and expand its #HotandSweet product mix with Fire Syrup and Fire Powder. Little Bird Kitchen has won numerous packaging awards and been featured in several trade publications.
